Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will not be a simple remake. According to the company, the game includes several new changes, updated gameplay features, and fresh ending content that will make it feel noticeably different from the original 2013 release.
Rumors and leaks about the game had been circulating online for months, but Ubisoft finally officially revealed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in April 2026. During the reveal, the developers clearly stated that the project would go beyond just graphical improvements. The goal of the remake is to rebuild the original Black Flag according to modern gaming standards.
Modern-Day Story Content Has Been Reduced
The original Assassin’s Creed 4 featured playable modern-day Abstergo office sequences. Many fans found those sections uninteresting, which is why Ubisoft decided to remove these playable modern-day missions from the remake.
This time, the focus is mainly on Edward Kenway’s story. Ubisoft explained that the Animus and memory connection system will still remain part of the game, but it will now be presented through new optional rifts. This change is expected to make the story feel smoother and more engaging.
Black Flag Resynced Will Feature a New Ending Chapter
Ubisoft Singapore Creative Director Paul Fu recently revealed in an interview that the remake includes a completely new endgame chapter called “A World Without Gold.”
The phrase is inspired by one of the final dialogues from the original Assassin’s Creed 4, making it emotionally meaningful for longtime fans. Ubisoft clarified that this chapter will not replace the original ending but will instead expand upon it to provide players with a deeper and more emotional conclusion.
Original Writer Created a New Ending Scene
One of the most interesting details is that Darby McDevitt, the original lead writer of Assassin’s Creed 4, has written a brand-new ending scene for the remake. Ubisoft avoided sharing major spoilers, but the developers hinted that the new scene will further explore the emotional story of one important character.
Fans who completed the original game may already have an idea about which character this scene could involve. Reports suggest that this content will appear before the final mission and may be part of the “A World Without Gold” chapter.
Several Gameplay Improvements Have Also Been Added
Alongside the story changes, Ubisoft has introduced several gameplay improvements as well. The original map has been expanded and remixed with new collectibles and missions.
Recent hands-on demos revealed some interesting additions. Players will now be able to use a shanty selector, while the original game only allowed songs to be skipped. A new rescue mission has also been added, allowing players to recruit a crew member named Lucy Baldwin, who strengthens the ship’s defensive abilities.
The game will also include 15 collectible messages referencing a mysterious faction called “The Watchers.” Ubisoft has not yet revealed further details about this group.
Release Date and Future Assassin’s Creed Projects
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players will be able to purchase it separately or access it through Ubisoft+.
According to reports, Ubisoft will shift focus toward Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe after this remake, with the upcoming title reportedly set in the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire. At the same time, rumors about a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed continue to grow within the gaming community.
