PlayStation Account Hacked Reports Shock PSN Users

Highlights
  • PlayStation users are reporting account hacks even with 2-factor authentication enabled.
  • Hackers allegedly only need a PSN ID and transaction details to bypass Sony support verification.
  • Sony has not officially responded to the latest PSN security breach reports.

A new concern has emerged for PlayStation users as several reports claim that PSN accounts are being hacked. The issue is being described as extremely serious because users say hackers are gaining access to accounts without phishing links or email hacks. This latest security problem has worried the PlayStation community, and fans are now waiting for Sony’s official response.

Old Warnings Are Going Viral Again

According to reports, some users had already been warning PlayStation players since December 2025 that PSN accounts could be compromised using only two pieces of information. These included a PSN ID and the account owner’s verified transaction ID.

Users claimed that hackers contacted Sony’s support team and used those details as proof of ownership to bypass the account recovery process. This allegedly allowed them to take over accounts without hacking emails or knowing passwords.

The most shocking part is that users claim hackers were still able to bypass 2-factor authentication. Because of this, many players have started questioning Sony’s current security policies.

Colin Moriarty Claims His Account Was Also Hacked

On May 18, 2026, another report surfaced in which Sacred Symbols podcast host Colin Moriarty claimed his PlayStation account had been hacked. Colin Moriarty is widely known for covering PlayStation news and gaming updates.

My PSN account was hacked, seemingly as part of an ongoing sophisticated series of moves against both random and "prominent" users.

Indeed, I was told by someone a few days ago that I was going to be targeted, and he was right. (He was also hacked.) pic.twitter.com/eWaNlwCLNe

Moriarty explained that someone had already warned him that hackers were targeting his account and already had the required information. Despite that, he changed his password and enabled 2-factor authentication, but according to him, neither step was enough to protect the account.

He also clarified that he was not a victim of phishing and did not click on any suspicious links. Moriarty stated that he never entered his login details on any random website and was completely confident about it.

Suspicious Emails Increased Concerns

Moriarty also mentioned that shortly before the hack, he started receiving strange emails from sources he had never subscribed to. It has not yet been confirmed whether those emails were connected to the hacking incident, but users are now taking the possibility seriously.

Other affected users have shared similar stories as well. Because of this, many in the community believe hackers may have discovered another method of obtaining the information needed to access accounts.

Sony Has Not Released an Official Statement Yet

Sony has not released any official statement regarding these mass hacking reports so far. The company has previously warned users not to share sensitive details such as PSN IDs and transaction information with others.

According to Sony, if someone gains access to account details, they can change the sign-in information and lock the original owner out of the account. However, users affected by the current issue claim they never shared their information with anyone.

This is why users are now demanding a quick security update and a proper investigation from Sony.

Sony Has Faced Hacker Threats Before

This is not the first time Sony has been linked to a major hacking issue. Back in 2023, reports claimed that hackers threatened to leak Sony’s sensitive information if a ransom was not paid.

Now in 2026, the company appears to be facing another security controversy, this time affecting regular PlayStation users directly. The gaming community is now waiting to see how quickly Sony responds and what new measures it introduces to improve account security.
