Subnautica 2 arrived on Steam through Early Access and quickly received a very positive response from players. Fans are enjoying the return to exploring dangerous alien oceans once again. However, since the game is still in its Early Access phase, the developers are continuing to improve and expand the experience.
Future Roadmap Details Revealed
Unknown Worlds Entertainment has now shared the game’s future roadmap, confirming multiple gameplay improvements and content updates. The roadmap is divided into three major categories, including the Quality of Life Update EA 1.1, the Co-op Centric Update EA 1.2, and future Expansion Updates.
Biomod System and Gameplay Improvements
The Quality of Life update mainly focuses on making gameplay smoother and more enjoyable. Developers are planning to rebalance the Biomod system because many current abilities feel uneven in usefulness. Some Biomods are extremely powerful, while others are mostly ignored by players. The update aims to make weaker abilities more worthwhile.
Blight encounters are also receiving improvements. Many current encounters feel repetitive and frustrating, so the developers want to add more variety and improve gameplay flow. Wreck exploration gameplay will also be enhanced to make underwater exploration feel more exciting.
Vehicle Docking and PDA Updates
Vehicle docking and fabrication systems are being updated as players have faced issues with base placement and docking mechanics. The PDA databank will also be expanded with more detailed lore entries about creatures and the world itself. Additionally, the voicelog system will be improved to reduce interruptions during story moments.
What’s Coming in the EA 1.1 Patch
The EA 1.1 patch will introduce several new gameplay additions as well. Passive Biomod slots will be increased, storage cache will be added, and a sprint feature will finally arrive to make movement around large bases faster and more convenient.
Co-op Experience Improvements Planned
The Co-op Centric Update, known as EA 1.2, will focus on improving the multiplayer experience. HUD signals will be enhanced so players can coordinate more easily with friends. The Base Builder Tool and Pinned Recipes System will also receive updates to make crafting and building less confusing.
In addition, EA 1.2 will introduce Voice Chat, Player Trading, Player Revive, and extra customization options. Developers also confirmed that future bug fixes, optimization updates, and gameplay balancing will continue throughout Early Access.
Future Expansion Updates Detailed
Future expansion updates for Subnautica 2 are planned to add new biomes, creatures, resources, tools, and vehicles. The story content will also expand, giving players even more exploration and mystery to uncover. According to the developers, player feedback will play a major role in shaping future updates.
