Apex Legends has released a new update for Season 26, focusing on enhancing the overall gameplay experience. This patch includes a nerf to the Peacekeeper and the return of the Sentinel, along with several other adjustments and bug fixes. While it may not be the largest update, Respawn Entertainment continues to refine the balance of Legends and weapons to ensure matches remain competitive and fun.
Season 26 and Meta Changes
Season 26 has already brought significant shifts to the Apex Legends meta. In September, Respawn released a mid-season update that nerfed Ash and Caustic, while reworking the kits for Seer and Mad Maggie. Weapon changes were also implemented, affecting favorites like the Wingman and RE-45 Burst. Now, with Split 2 underway, Respawn has released another update to further refine gameplay, making matches more dynamic and competitive.
Peacekeeper Nerf and Sentinel’s Return
According to the October 7 patch notes, the Peacekeeper has been nerfed to better align it with other shotguns. The update reduces the fire rate and decreases the magazine size from 6 to 5. Respawn explained that the goal is to “maintain its raw damage potential while limiting how quickly that damage can be delivered.” Alongside the Peacekeeper changes, the Sentinel has returned to Apex Legends after being absent due to a bug that previously prevented it from functioning correctly.
Alter and Seer Balance Tweaks
The October update also introduces additional balance adjustments, including new nerfs for Alter: players can now place only 1 Void Nexus on the map, and downed teammates can no longer use a Void Nexus to escape enemies. However, Respawn clarified that teammates can still summon knocked allies through the portal.
The recently reworked Seer also received tweaks to his abilities: ADS hover is now disabled in Exhibit, and a short full-body scan has been added to the Lasting Beats upgrade when an enemy exits his Ultimate area. These changes make Seer’s gameplay more strategic and balanced.
Gameplay Improvements and Bug Fixes
The October update also brings several enhancements aimed at improving the overall Apex Legends experience. Server stability has improved, reducing slow-motion issues, though work in this area is ongoing. Additional Trident bug fixes have been implemented, and Mad Maggie now sprints at the correct speed while using a shotgun.
Impact on Season 26 Meta
It will be interesting to see how these adjustments affect the Season 26 meta. Many players felt that the Peacekeeper had become overpowered after leaving the Care Package, so it’s encouraging to see Respawn responding to community feedback. Ultimately, only time will tell if these changes significantly shift the weapon meta and make gameplay more balanced.
