Where Winds Meet has introduced a new vehicle-crafting feature that closely resembles the Ultrahand ability from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The RPG quickly became a global hit, largely thanks to its vast in-game content and free-to-play model. Now, the game is giving players even more creative freedom, taking inspiration from another highly successful open-world title.
The player numbers since launch clearly show the game’s popularity. Within just 24 hours, Where Winds Meet surpassed 2 million players and secured a spot among Steam’s top five most-played games. Developer Everstone Studios is capitalizing on this momentum by releasing regular updates and patches, while fans eagerly await the next major update.
On November 28, Everstone launched a new feature called “Ink Structure” on the game’s Chinese servers, allowing players to assemble components and build their own vehicles. Gameplay clips shared on Twitter showcase helicopters, carts, scooters, and other inventive creations.
Players are likely to push this mechanic to its limits, much like the Ultrahand ability in Tears of the Kingdom. Zelda fans have used that system to create Star Wars ships, battle robots, and much more, and with Ink Structure offering a similarly open-ended experience, it’s only a matter of time before Where Winds Meet players showcase equally creative designs.
For now, Ink Structure is only available on Chinese servers, but like the game’s other systems, it is expected to launch globally in the future. While Everstone hasn’t revealed a timeline yet, one thing is clear: this mechanic is set to have a major impact on gameplay.
It not only provides new ways to explore the world and tackle challenging enemies but also introduces collectible components scattered across the map, some with unique abilities. Unlike some activities limited to Solo Mode, Ink Structure also includes multiplayer features, allowing players to share blueprints for their vehicles.
In addition to Ink Structure, the developers have teased several upcoming improvements. The mid-December updates are expected to address Solo Mode latency issues, add Steam Deck support, enhance PS5 visual performance, and optimize in-game translations, further improving the overall gameplay experience.
