In January 2026, Rockstar Games has given Red Dead Redemption 2 Online players a few new reasons to return to the game. While Rockstar is mainly focused on Grand Theft Auto 6 and reports suggest the project is nearing its polish phase, the studio has not completely ignored its other titles.
GTA Online continues to receive regular updates, but Red Dead Online has long suffered from a lack of attention. After years of silence, players even jokingly held a “funeral” for RDO in 2022. Now, a limited but meaningful set of rewards has been announced for January, bringing some renewed interest to the community.
Throughout the month, players can earn triple RDO$, Role XP, and XP from regular bounty missions. Legendary and Infamous Bounties will reward players with double RDO$, Gold, and XP. Completing a Legendary Bounty grants the Harshaw Gauntlets, while Rank 25 or higher Bounty Hunters can receive the Clairborn Coat simply by logging in during January.
Additionally, the Manhunt and Day of Reckoning events will remain active until February 2, offering triple RDO$ and XP along with a special participation charm. These bonuses are aimed at players who continue to spend time in Red Dead Online.
Each week in January also features unique rewards. Players can earn treasure maps, receive large discounts on weapons and Bounty Hunter role items, and in the final week, Rank 50 or higher players can claim the Beige Torranca Coat just by logging in.
Alongside these rewards, several limited-time clothing items are returning to the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. catalog, including the Gator Hat, Strickland Boots, Tier Pants, Irwin Coat, Clymene Coat, and Shaffer Chaps.
Overall, this may not be a major update, but for a game that rarely receives attention, it is better than nothing. Until a next-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 is announced, these January rewards at least give players a reason to jump back in.
