Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is once again close to proving its dominance in the gaming world. The popular role-playing game has received eight more nominations at the 29th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, including a nomination for Game of the Year. The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences revealed the 2026 nominees, where Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and the PS5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei emerged as the most nominated titles.
These nominations arrived months after the game’s launch in April 2025. Since release, Expedition 33 has been praised for its strong narrative, classic turn-based RPG gameplay, and memorable voice performances. By the end of the year, the game achieved a historic milestone at The Game Awards 2025, winning nine awards including Game of the Year and Best Performance for Jennifer English’s portrayal of Maelle.
At the D.I.C.E. Awards, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is shortlisted among five contenders for Game of the Year, alongside ARC Raiders, Dispatch, Blue Prince, and Ghost of Yotei. The awards ceremony will be livestreamed from the Aria Resort in Las Vegas on February 12, hosted by Greg Miller and Stella Chung.
Beyond the top category, the game has also been nominated in seven additional categories, including Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Role-Playing Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Story. This year, Expedition 33 and Ghost of Yotei lead the nominations with eight each.
Other notable games such as Dispatch, ARC Raiders, Blue Prince, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach have also secured multiple nominations. The D.I.C.E. announcement followed the Steam Awards, where Expedition 33 did not win Game of the Year but was selected by fans for Best Soundtrack. Hollow Knight: Silksong took home the Steam Game of the Year award.
Following its major success at The Game Awards, developer Sandfall Interactive released a free update for players. The Thank You Update introduced a new endgame dungeon called Verso’s Drafts, along with new costumes, weapons, challenging boss fights, and additional language support including Spanish.
Despite widespread recognition, Sandfall Interactive shows no signs of slowing down. The French studio is already working on new projects, though details remain undisclosed. According to the developers, future games will continue to follow their creative instincts and personal vision. The gaming community now waits to see what comes next after Expedition 33.
