The Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Season 01 Reloaded file size has surprised the gaming community. Activision has confirmed that the Season 01 Reloaded update will launch on January 8, but players will need to clear a large amount of storage space, as the update is reported to be close to 200GB.
Season 01 Reloaded is the first mid-season update for Call of Duty Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The update will add new maps, weapons, and game modes, marking the halfway point of the game’s first season. However, the extremely large file size has raised concerns among players.
After the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 in November, Treyarch released Season 1 on December 4. The season introduced three new maps, a remastered version of the iconic Black Ops 2 map Standoff, and classic modes such as Prop Hunt, One In The Chamber, and Sharpshooter. Warzone players also benefited, as the two games were fully integrated, allowing players to use their leveled Black Ops 7 weapons and explore the new Resurgence map, Haven’s Hollow.
As Season 1 reaches its midpoint, Activision and Treyarch are preparing to release the Season 01 Reloaded update. Some players have already been able to pre-load the patch, with reports showing a file size of over 174GB on Battle.net. The update size will vary depending on the platform and installed content. Players who only have Warzone installed may experience a smaller download.
While full details are yet to be revealed, a detailed blog post is expected on January 7. It has been confirmed that the update will include a brand-new map called Jakei, set on neon-lit rooftops in Japan. Two remastered maps are also coming, including Fringe from Black Ops 3 and Meltdown from Black Ops 2, which is being remastered for the first time.
This is not the first time a Call of Duty update has had such a massive file size. The Call of Duty HQ app has faced criticism for taking up large amounts of storage due to multiple games being combined into one unified platform. Currently, players must access Warzone, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 through the same app.
On Steam, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 has not significantly boosted player numbers. Ongoing controversies from Black Ops 6, including cosmetic issues, cheaters, and weak updates, appear to have affected the new release. As a result, Battlefield 6 has outperformed Black Ops 7 this year, and the huge update size may further discourage players from returning.
