The well-received indie farming sim My Time at Sandrock is getting a big feature soon that will be great for those playing its multiplayer. The 2023 farming simulator from Pathea Games, My Time at Sandrock, is finally getting a much-requested multiplayer feature months after release. This latest update will be great news for fans looking to play My Time at Sandrock with friends on other platforms.
As a sequel to 2019’s fondly-received cozy farming game My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock had a lot to live up to in the eyes of fans prior to its release. Fortunately, though, the Stardew Valley-like game was a big hit when it launched in November 2023, obtaining an 80 Metacritic score on PC and an 88% Very Positive rating on Steam.
One of the most notable additions that Sandrock added to the formula its predecessor established was the inclusion of online co-op, which made it so that up to four players could build workshops and cultivate towns together.
The one big issue that hampered this otherwise solid multiplayer component at launch was the inability to play with friends on other platforms. Luckily, it seems like Pathea Games has listened to feedback from fans and has made an announcement regarding this problem.
During a special event called the Triple-i Initiative showcase on April 10, it was announced that My Time at Sandrock will soon allow players to play together across different platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Pathea Games mentioned in a video that this update will arrive in June, but they didn’t give an exact date.
At the Triple-i Initiative showcase, there were more multiplayer announcements for indie games. The makers of the popular roguelike shooter Brotato said they’ll add couch co-op soon. Also, they talked about other exciting co-op games like Thunder Lotus’s 33 Immortals and Passtech Games’ Ravenswatch: The Fall of Avalon.
My Time at Sandrock has been getting a lot of attention from its creators since it officially launched, even after it left early access. Recently, Pathea Games released a big update for the Switch version to fix graphics and technical issues that were there at the start.
They’ve also added many new features this year, like more ways to customize things and extra dialogue for romantic options with NPCs. Plus, they introduced a challenging endgame dungeon, a system for managing factories, and a way to send letters in the game. With how often they’re updating, it seems like fans of My Time at Sandrock will keep getting new stuff to enjoy all through 2024.
