Fans of Marvel Rivals propose an innovative twist on the traditional “Capture the Flag” mode commonly seen in competitive multiplayer games. They envision using the legendary Infinity Gauntlet as the coveted item that players would compete to seize. NetEase Games unveiled Marvel Rivals in March, presenting it as a Marvel-inspired hero shooter akin to Overwatch. The game features intense 6v6 battles among iconic heroes and villains from the comic book universe, alongside lesser-known characters like Luna Snow.
Although there’s no official release date yet for Marvel Rivals, a fortunate set of players recently had the chance to experience it firsthand in a closed alpha trial conducted earlier this month. During this period, fans provided feedback on features such as Doctor Strange’s potent Portal ability and the faithfully replicated Spider-Sense of Spider-Man. The alpha test for Marvel Rivals also showcased various match formats, including tutorial sessions and quick matches, enabling players to dive right into the excitement.
There is still room for improvement, and Marvel Rivals players are actively sharing suggestions for refining the game’s competitive multiplayer features. One notable idea comes from Reddit user Lazthaswag, who proposed a Capture the Flag mode using Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet as the “flag” teams would strive to capture and bring back to their base for points. This concept mirrors the climactic battle in 2019’s Avengers Endgame, where Earth’s heroes fought to keep the Infinity Stones away from Thanos and his army.
Other Reddit users in the comments of Lazthaswag’s post have supported the idea of using the Infinity Gauntlet in a Capture the Flag variant. Some have even suggested that the Gauntlet could grant the player holding it power boosts or special abilities, similar to its depiction in the comics and MCU films. One user proposed that individual Infinity Stones could spawn at different locations on the map, requiring players to collect them to score points.
Additional Marvel Rivals Capture the Flag ideas shared in the post include the Ultimate Nullifier, a formidable weapon in the Marvel Universe feared even by Galactus. This would be particularly fitting as Galactus’s daughter, Galacta, has already been confirmed as a potential host or narrator for Marvel Rivals. Other suggestions for the game’s potential Capture the Flag mode include the Tesseract, the Cosmic Cube, Thor’s legendary hammer Mjolnir, and even a Doombot head containing valuable information for the heroes of the Marvel Universe.
