Dragon Quest X – DQX Offline is a special single-player version of Dragon Quest X, bringing the online world into offline mode. The game was announced on May 27, 2021, during the series’ 35th anniversary livestream on YouTube. Initially, the release date was set for February 26, 2022, when it was announced on October 3, 2021, but it was later delayed to September 15, 2022.
A demo of the game was released in Japan on October 28, 2022. This offline remake will feature both the base game and an expansion, “The Sleeping Hero and the Guided Allies,” which will be released at a later date, along with paid downloadable content. The game will be available in two editions: a normal edition, which includes only the base game, and a special edition, which includes both the base game and the expansion.
In Dragon Quest X – DQX Offline, the game shifts to a traditional turn-based command battle system, reminiscent of older Dragon Quest games, replacing the online version’s action interruption system. Players can customize the appearance of the protagonist, their sibling, and choose their reincarnated race.
At the start of the game, six basic vocations are available: Warrior, Priest, Mage, Thief, Martial Artist, and Minstrel. As players progress through the story and complete special quests, they can unlock advanced vocations. The game also features five characters from the online version, each representing a different race, who join the protagonist’s party.
Players can swap these characters in and out of the party at any time, each character having their own unique race and backstory.
